Ratings Guide

For movies:

A+:  Watch in theaters now and buy on DVD later.
A:     Watch in theaters and buy on DVD later.
A-:   Watch in theaters, buy it on DVD when it’s discounted.
B+:  Watch in the dollar theater or rent when it comes out. Possibly buy on DVD if the price is low.
B:     Rent when it comes out on DVD, maybe buy it if it’s cheap.
B-:   Rent when it comes out DVD or buy at a highly reduced price.
C+:  Wait to rent on DVD, buy only if it’s cheap and fits your personal niche.
C:     Wait to rent on DVD or on demand.
C-:   Watch on Netflix or rent from Redbox for one night.
D+:  Watch on Netflix.
D:    Watch only if there’s nothing better on TV.
D-:   Only watch the highlights on YouTube.
F:     Don’t watch, you have better things to do with your life.

For DVDs:

A:  Own immediately, pay full price if necessary.
B: Own, but wait wait until it’s on sale.
C: Rent when it comes out.
D: Borrow it eventually.
F: Ignore.

For books:

A:  Buy in hardcover.
B:  Buy in paperback.
C: Borrow from the library.
D: Borrow only if you have absolutely nothing better to read.
F: Don’t bother.
